Adapting Stormwater Management for Coastal Floods
Presenter: Josh Murphy, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management

The ability to effectively manage stormwater is a critical function of any community; however, more frequent coastal flooding events are posing a unique challenge to coastal communities. To tackle this complex issue, communities need to know if and when they should expect to see coastal flooding, how long it will last, and how this may impact their ability to manage stormwater. This presentation will introduce “Adapting Stormwater Management for Coastal Floods”, a web-based, decision-support resource available through NOAA’s Digital Coast platform that provides timely and relevant information to address these concerns.

Quick Reference Coastal Resources and Visual Aides
Presenter:
Brad Dean, Resilience Action Partners

Coastal communities are special places and home to important resources. But what makes them so distinctive is also what makes them at high risk for floods. These include storm surges, powerful waves, and erosion – all of which can cause extensive damage to homes, businesses, and public spaces. “Coastal Hazards and Coastal Mapping: A Visual Guide,” is a plain(er) language coastal glossary that can be used as a leave-behind at community events or meetings to provide key community stakeholders with additional background information on coastal hazards and how they’re depictured on flood maps.
